El Dr. César Nakazaki anunció que asumirá la defensa del expresidente Ollanta Humala y su esposa Nadine Heredia, ambos investigados por el caso Odebrecht. El jurista dio la noticia a través de Facebook y Twitter, donde indicó: "Amigos, quiero anunciar que desde hoy asumo la defensa del expresidente Ollanta Humala y Nadine Heredia".
En ese sentido, César Nakazaki, ha señalado que usará todos los recursos jurídicos para que Ollanta Humala y su esposa no sean víctimas de ajusticiamiento, sino de un proceso judicial justo mediante el cual solo los tribunales podrán determinar si existe culpabilidad o son inocentes.
Como se recuerda, Ollanta Humala y Nadine Heredia se encuentran bajo prisión preventiva, luego que el Poder Judicial dictara 18 meses para esta medida restrictiva, debido a las investigaciones por los presuntos aportes que su agrupación política Gana Perú recibió de Odebrecht y otras constructoras para las campañas electorales de 2006 y el 2011.
De otro lado, tras conocerse que César Nakazaki será quien lidere el equipo de abogados que luchará por la libertad del expresidente Ollanta Humala y Nadine Heredia, los principales medios de comunicación informaron de manera inmediata al respecto pues el jurista es recordado por haber sido defensor de casos emblemáticos como: Alberto Fujimori en 2009 en los casos de las matanzas de Barrios Altos (1991), la Cantuta (1992) y los secuestros del periodista Gustavo Gorriti y el empresario Samuel Dyer durante el autogolpe de 1992.
